The Yes We Must Coalition is offering a workshop to college/university teams on Innovating Dual Enrollment to Lead Low-Income Students’ College Opportunities, a two-session workshop on Tuesdays, November 3 and 17, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 pm Eastern. The workshop will be led by Grant Greenwood, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Chief Operations Officer, and Cynthia Martin, Vice President of Academic Affairs, at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, a YWMC member.

According to NACE’s Trends and Predictions, “the College in High School Alliance found that dual-enrolled students ‘are more likely to graduate high school, enroll in college, and complete a college degree or credential.’ This is particularly true of low-income and under-represented students.” The greatest number of dual enrolled students attend public community colleges and public four-year universities, but the number of students attending small, private colleges/universities is increasing – over a quarter million enrollees in the 2024–2025 school year according to IPEDS data. YWMC member McMurry University is proving that small private colleges/universities dedicated to serving underserved students should be “players” in reaching low-income high school students and making an avenue to affordable college degrees, growing their Dual Credit Academy to approximately 10,000 students in school systems throughout Texas. Grant and Cindy will lead participants in exploring the components and approaches they have used to develop McMurry’s Dual Credit Academy using various delivery models and pathways to degrees and fast track pathways incentives. The workshop is intended for cross-campus teams of at least 2 people.

What Is Involved?

The workshop will consist of two 2-hour virtual gatherings in Zoom on Tuesdays, November 3 and 17, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 pm Eastern. Campus teams will complete a pre-workshop exercise and a team assignment in between sessions.

Who Should Attend?

Teams from all Yes We Must Coalition member schools and other colleges/universities who share our commitment to increasing the success of students from low-income backgrounds are invited. The workshop content and activities are relevant whether participants have existing dual enrollment initiatives or are only beginning this work. Campus teams will participate together in the workshop sessions and develop an action-oriented plan for their campus.

Teams must consist of at least 2 members. Suggested team members include Enrollment Management and Admissions leaders and staff, Academic Affairs leaders, academic advisors and student success staff, as well as secondary school system partners. However, all administrators, staff, and faculty are welcome to participate as part of a campus team.

Campus Team Outcomes:

  • Understand the data on how dual enrollment can improve college success in access, persistence, and completion.
  • Explore the avenues to expanding the reach of a small, private college as a chosen partner for secondary school systems to support underserved high school students in achieving post-secondary success.
  • Broaden dual enrollment programs, pathways, partnerships, and enrollment through action-planning utilizing new strategies.
  • Meet colleagues at Yes We Must Coalition member schools and others who share common goals and contexts for advancing opportunities for all students and stimulate collaborative work.
  • Leave with an invitation to participate in a post-meeting virtual Community of Practice to assist one another with plan implementation.

How to Register and Cost for Participating

Cost for a Campus Team of at least 2 and up to 4 members is $475 for Yes We Must Coalition institutional members; cost for a team from non-YWMC institutions is $625. For teams larger than 4, additional members may join at a cost of $100 per additional member from YWMC member schools and $150 per additional member from non-member schools. Team registration deadline is Wednesday, October 28. To register, one college/university representative should complete the online Registration Form below — providing names, titles/roles, and email contacts for team participants. Payment must be made by credit card at time of registration through the payment link at the bottom of the online form. Registrants will be sent links to the Zoom workshop sessions as well as the pre-workshop exercise to complete and return.
