The Yes We Must Coalition is offering a two-session workshop for college/university teams on Wednesdays, April 29 and May 13, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm ET. The workshop will be led by Ray Barbosa, Senior Analyst at Jobs for the Future, a national leader in initiatives that expand equity in preparing students for meaningful careers and economic mobility.
Labor market information (LMI) can be a means to answer questions about how to better serve college learners and ensure they are being prepared for entry and advancement along a career pathway. Data on industry trends, occupational requirements, wages, or whether wages align with living wage in a particular region provide insights that faculty and staff in any type of institution of higher education need to help students maximize their opportunities for learning and career-readiness. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to publicly available sources of LMI and ways resources can be used to support better learner outcomes, update curricula, and engage stakeholders in your region. The workshop is intended for cross-campus teams of at least
2 people.
What Is Involved?
The workshop will consist of two 2-hour virtual gatherings in Zoom on Wednesdays, April 29 and May13, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm ET. Campus teams will complete a pre-workshop exercise and a team assignment in between sessions.
Who Should Attend?
Teams from all Yes We Must Coalition member schools and other colleges/universities who share our commitment to increasing the success of students from low-income backgrounds are invited. The workshop content and activities are relevant for participants who have familiarity with LMI tools or are new to using them. Campus teams will participate together in the workshop sessions and develop an action-oriented plan for their campus.
Teams must consist of at least 2 members. The workshop is open to all members of your faculty and staff who want to learn about and participate in implementing these approaches.
Campus Team Outcomes:
- Identify connections between career development and college programming.
- Understand the purpose of labor market information within the context of four-year liberal arts colleges/universities.
- Become familiar with the variety of LMI tools and the basics for utilizing them.
- Consider strategies for aligning college programs with labor market opportunities.
- Teams will meet colleagues at Yes We Must Coalition member schools and others who share common goals and contexts for advancing degree completion for all students and stimulate collaborative work on practices, programs, and policies.
- Leave with an invitation to participate in a post-meeting virtual Community of Practice to assist one another with plan implementation.
