What They’re Saying about The Wheel

At Ferrum College, courses offered through The Wheel have been utilized to help students navigate curricular obstacles such as multiple prerequisites or conflicting course time offerings, assist in credit and GPA recovery, and allow other students to advance through their degree requirements so that they can meet their graduation goals. Whether students take a Ferrum College course, or a course taught at a partner institution in The Yes We Must Coalition, they have benefited from the added choice and flexibility in their academic journey. As a result, Ferrum College has experienced a significant increase in retention as students have been able to meet their various educational needs through online course offerings.
Sandra Via, Director of the School of Graduate and Online Education Studies, Ferrum College
We joined The Wheel in spring 2019 and had a very strong student response over the Summer Term, as the program allows students the flexibility to complete coursework while also serving in an internship or working. Based on this success, we are now moving towards this model for our semester course offerings as it allows our students to take courses they need out of sequence and promotes student success and degree completion.
